I am a freelance technical and content writer, and entrepreneur. My writing experience varies from WordPress development and documentation to how to set up a smocking pleater. I enjoy helping people organize their thoughts in order to present information in a clear and readable manner. I adore words, and I think that they like me okay too. Now for a little history….
After earning a B.A. in Religion from the University of Georgia (1999) and spending a number of years working as a communications coordinator, I expanded my freelance work by moving into front-end web development and copywriting. I worked primarily with small businesses and individuals to setup online presence for their specific needs. While I have a great deal of experience in building sites from scratch with HTML and CSS, I currently work primarily in WordPress. My experience includes setting up and maintaining sites including integrating e-commerce plugins as well as social media. This background has definitely helped me with technical writing. Since I have a solid understanding of how web development works, I am able to write about it in an informed way.
In the summer of 2017, after several years of work, I finished my M.A. in English from Louisiana Tech University. The program focused primarily on technical writing but also included courses in information design as well as various different types of literature. It was challenging, but taught me how to focus and present information in a clear and concise manner. The coursework introduced me to topics that I wouldn’t have pursued independently. For this, I am grateful.
